A Month-Long Exhibition for Peace in Pyeongtaek
A special peace-themed art exhibition has opened in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, bringing together children’s and youth artworks from around the world. Hosted by the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Pyeongtaek Branch, the exhibition showcases award-winning and participating works from the 7th Peace-Loving Art Competition, running from December 6, 2025 to January 4, 2026 at the Pyeongtaek Cultural Center’s Utdari Culture Village.
The exhibit highlights the voices of young artists who expressed compassion, hope, and solutions for peace through their drawings.
A Global Art Competition with a Message
The annual Peace-Loving Art Competition invites children and youth to explore the question:
“What can I/we do to bring peace into reality?”
This year’s exhibition features:
-
Winning artworks from international participants
-
Local works from students in Pyeongtaek and Anseong
-
The grand-prize piece along with special award recipients
One of the featured works is by high school student Roh Sun-ha, recipient of the Korean Fine Arts Association Special Award. She shared:
“I believe drawing is my way of contributing to peace. I hope my artwork helps others feel closer to peace.”
Art That Speaks the Heart of Children
The exhibition shows how deeply young people think about war, conflict, and harmony. Many artworks reflect empathy for peers suffering from violence around the world. Others focus on kindness, unity, environmental care, and the small but meaningful actions anyone can practice daily to build peace.
Visitors are invited to leave their own peace messages in a participatory space, adding their voices to a global call for a more peaceful future.
Community Engagement and Future Efforts
IWPG Pyeongtaek Branch Director Lee Min-seon expressed that the exhibition helps children understand peace beyond textbooks:
“Their drawings contain heartfelt messages for peers living through conflict. I hope this becomes a meaningful moment for both children and local citizens to reflect on peace together.”
The exhibition also informs visitors about the upcoming 2026 Peace-Loving Art Competition, encouraging wider participation from local youth.
IWPG plans to continue holding traveling exhibitions to promote peace culture throughout the region.
