IWPG Global Region 7 Builds Peace Solidarity with Women Leaders from Mali and the Czech Republic

At the 2025 World Women’s Peace Conference in Cheongju, Korea, two distinguished women leaders—Boure Bintou Founé Samaké, former Minister of Women, Children, and Family Promotion of Mali, and Sadatkan Daminova, President of the Kyrgyz Association in the Czech Republic—joined IWPG Global Region 7 to strengthen international solidarity for peace.

Their visit, hosted by IWPG Global Region 7 Director Kim Eun-kyung, highlighted practical approaches to peacebuilding across different cultural and regional contexts.

“Peace is Not a Slogan, But a Skill of Life”

Speaking at the conference on September 19, Samaké emphasized that “peace is not a lofty slogan but a skill of life.” She shared Mali’s experiences in peace education, women’s rights initiatives, and art-based community activities, demonstrating how peace can take root in daily life.

In an interview, she praised IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education program as inclusive and transformative:

“It is not a tool for elites or experts only, but for women, children, youth, and men alike—helping all participants experience change in their thinking and actions.”

Samaké announced plans to collaborate with IWPG on translating and adapting peace education content into local languages, as well as developing community exhibitions, dialogue programs, and traveling peace education initiatives throughout Mali.

Strengthening Peace Networks in the Czech Republic

Daminova, who has led immigrant communities in the Czech Republic for 23 years, also participated in the conference. She began working with IWPG Prague activists in August and is currently preparing the “Anti-War, Peace, and Solidarity Event” scheduled for March next year.

As Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan in the Czech Republic, she leads the Kyrgyz Association while advancing peace projects that involve Kyrgyz, Ukrainian, and Kazakh communities.

Daminova expressed her admiration for IWPG’s approach:

“I felt sincerity in IWPG’s focus on practical action rather than positions or money.”

She is now particularly focused on solidarity with Ukrainian women refugees, helping them find psychological stability and a sense of belonging in Czech society through community events and support.

A Shared Belief: Peace Through Connection and Action

Though Mali and the Czech Republic differ in culture and geography, the two leaders share the conviction that peace begins with everyday connections and practical action. Their efforts, linked with IWPG’s global network, demonstrate how local initiatives can grow into international solidarity for sustainable peace.
