October 18, 2025 — Nigeria. The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global 1 Branch (Director: Kang Yeon-gyeong) held the Women’s Peace Education Instructor Course 25-2-2 Graduation Ceremony online, celebrating the completion of training for 22 new women peace instructors.
The event marked a significant step in expanding women’s peace education across Nigeria, empowering women leaders to become active promoters of peace within their communities.
Empowering Women to Lead Peace Education
The graduation included participants from Team Bamigboye Folashade (14 members) and Team Omgbu Odiri Obukowho Margaret (8 members), along with five instructors from the 1st class who attended as part of continuing education.
In her congratulatory remarks, Director Kang Yeon-gyeong emphasized:
“Women’s Peace Education is a vital program that nurtures the flowers of peace. I look forward to seeing each of you take part in building a peaceful world together.”
Three representatives delivered instructor speeches — Obesem Nwamaka Mabel (1st class graduate), Bamigboye Folashade, and Margaret Omgbu.
Bamigboye highlighted:
“Women should stand at the center of peace, realizing harmony in themselves, their families, and the world. According to Articles 9 and 10 of the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War), interreligious and intercultural harmony is key to spreading a culture of peace.”
“Peace Begins With Me”
Chikodili Deborah Ekweozoh, Head of IWPG Washington D.C. Branch and course instructor, commended the graduates’ efforts, stating:
“Each graduate has become a practitioner of peace who promotes harmony within their families, communities, and nation. Under the belief that ‘Peace begins with me,’ I hope you will continue to grow as members of our global peace family.”
The Women’s Peace Education Instructor Course is a professional training program designed to help women understand and practice the values of peace. Graduates will now serve as peace educators and advocates, delivering IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education in their local communities.
Expanding Peace Education in Nigeria
The newly certified instructors will also form a Peace Committee to coordinate outreach education and instructor dispatch programs, establishing a sustainable peace education model across Nigeria.
During the ceremony, participants received official IWPG Peace Instructor Certificates and shared reflections on their training experience. Through IWPG’s global education platform, the graduates are now qualified to teach peace education programs internationally.
They will also have opportunities to present at the Women’s Peace Education Session of the annual World Women’s Peace Conference and be nominated for the “Peace Instructor of the Year” Award.
