Building Peace Through Education: IWPG Global 5 Signs MOU with Indian University

Expanding Peace Education Across Borders

During the 2025 World Women’s Peace Conference in Cheongju, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global 5 Department entered a new chapter of collaboration with India. On September 18, IWPG signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vivek College of Commerce in Mumbai, focusing on advancing women’s peace education and nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Key Areas of Cooperation

The agreement outlines several commitments:

• Joint implementation of women’s peace education programs

• Regular peace lectures to inspire students and communities

• Cultural and artistic exchanges that connect peace with creativity

Through these initiatives, both IWPG and Vivek College aim to create a strong educational foundation for peace, equipping young women to become active agents of reconciliation and hope.

Vijeta Shetty, Principal of Vivek College, emphasized the urgency of women’s peace leadership today:

Vivek College has been an active overseas partner of IWPG, consistently taking part in international peace events. The new MOU strengthens this relationship, ensuring regular academic exchange and the sharing of peace education content between Korea and India.

The Cheongju conference brought together women leaders from 44 countries, all united in the mission of promoting women’s rights and seeking solutions to global conflicts.
