🇫🇷 Paris, France: “War and Human Rights” Exhibition & Conference
An exhibition and conference titled "War and Human Rights" was held at the Rosa Parks Socio-Cultural Center in Paris from June 24 to July 15, 2023. The event highlighted the impact of war on human rights and the importance of legal frameworks in achieving sustainable peace.
The conference, "Peace Through Law: How Can We Institutionalize Peace?", emphasized the role of international law and the need for active civic participation in peacebuilding. Participants, including legal experts and human rights advocates, recognized the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as a powerful tool for institutionalizing peace.
🇨🇴 Medellín, Colombia: Peace Cooperation Discussions
HWPL’s Los Angeles branch attended the "She is" conference in Medellín, Colombia, from August 7 to 9, 2023. At this event, HWPL representatives engaged with government officials and peace advocates, securing support for the DPCW.
Given Colombia's history of armed conflict, discussions focused on the necessity of peace education and political collaboration to ensure a peaceful future. Colombian government representatives pledged to expand peace initiatives by forming a network of politicians supporting the DPCW.
🇰🇷 Gyeongju, South Korea: Peace Mural Unveiling
On July 30, 2023, HWPL unveiled a peace mural at Youngji Jeongsa Temple in Gyeongju, South Korea. The mural, created in collaboration with Buddhist leaders, symbolizes the unity of world religions and the hope for a peaceful world.
One part of the mural portrays children playing joyfully in a world of peace, while another section features a lotus flower, representing overcoming challenges to achieve harmony. This initiative reflects HWPL’s ongoing cooperation with religious communities to promote peace and unity.
🇿🇲 Zambia: Peace Singing Contest 🎶
On July 29, 2023, a peace-themed singing contest was held at the "Joy of Childhood" school in Zambia. The school, which signed a peace education MOU with HWPL in 2022, actively incorporates peace lessons into its curriculum.
The contest allowed students to express their thoughts on peace through music, aligning with Zambia’s cultural tradition of storytelling through song. Judges praised the event, emphasizing how music fosters mental well-being and spreads messages of peace in an engaging way.
