HWPL: Uniting Religions, Ending War, and Promoting Peace

In a world still plagued by war and conflict, where divisions between nations and religions often fuel tensions, HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) continues to lead the way in building a global society rooted in peace. Under the leadership of Chairman Lee Man-hee, HWPL has become a beacon of hope, uniting people across borders, faiths, and ideologies to work towards a shared goal: a world free from war.

From interfaith dialogue in Thailand to a unified religious stance against the Russia-Ukraine war and a human rights webinar in Cameroon, HWPL’s efforts demonstrate that peace is not just an ideal—it is a real and achievable goal through education, cooperation, and institutional reform.

🌍 Interfaith Peace Camp in Thailand

It is widely recognized that religious conflicts account for nearly 80% of global disputes. Rather than being a source of division, HWPL believes that religion can be a force for unity and peace when approached with mutual understanding.

To foster interfaith harmony, HWPL hosted a Religious Peace Camp in Thailand in February 2023, marking its first in-person gathering since the pandemic. Held at Haroon Mosque in Bangkok and Maha Chulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya University in Chiang Mai, the camp provided a unique cultural exchange opportunity where participants learned about different religious practices firsthand.

A key feature of the camp was the "Religious Culture Class," where attendees experienced the customs and traditions of different faiths. Under the theme "Transforming Conflict Through Dialogue," lectures were delivered on the importance of patience, respect, and understanding in overcoming religious conflicts.

Through this event, Buddhists, Muslims, and Sikhs in Thailand came together to promote peace, breaking down walls of misunderstanding and reinforcing the message that peaceful coexistence is possible when we engage in open, respectful dialogue.

🕊 A Unified Religious Declaration to End the Russia-Ukraine War

Religious leaders worldwide have long played a role in advocating for peace. Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, HWPL’s Religious Alliance for Peace has organized continuous prayer meetings and interfaith discussions, calling for an end to the violence.

In December 2023, a groundbreaking joint statement was issued by HWPL’s Religious Integration Peace Committee (RIPC). This statement, signed by global religious leaders, called for the immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of innocent lives.

This unified religious call for peace showcases HWPL’s ability to transcend religious and national boundaries, proving that peace is not just a political matter—it is a human one.

📢 Human Rights & Peace Webinar in Cameroon

Beyond interfaith dialogue and anti-war activism, HWPL is committed to educating the next generation about peace. On April 15, 2023, HWPL hosted a Human Rights and Peace Webinar in Cameroon, under the theme "Institutionalizing Peaceful Coexistence."

Cameroon, a country deeply divided by language-based conflicts between its French-speaking majority and English-speaking minority, has experienced political unrest and human rights violations since 2018. The webinar addressed these issues, proposing practical solutions for peacebuilding.

Key recommendations from the webinar included:
Teaching peace in schools to cultivate a new generation of peace-oriented citizens
Creating dialogue platforms for non-violent conflict resolution
Establishing international legal frameworks to protect peace

HWPL introduced its Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as an international legal solution and showcased success stories from Mindanao, Philippines, where HWPL played a pivotal role in resolving a decades-long armed conflict.

🔹The Road to Realizing Global Peace

Through interfaith dialogue, global peace declarations, and human rights education, HWPL is actively working to institutionalize peace worldwide. The recent Religious Peace Camp in Thailand, the joint religious statement against the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Cameroon peace webinar all demonstrate that peace is not an unattainable dream—it is a process that requires education, cooperation, and unwavering commitment.

HWPL’s message remains clear: regardless of nationality, faith, or ideology, we are one global family.

As Chairman Lee Man-hee has consistently emphasized:

“Peace must be passed down as an eternal legacy to future generations.”

The time for peace is now. Join HWPL in making peace a reality!
