Does a Growing Brain Ever Truly Age?

Have you ever thought about what it means to live a "dignified life" in an age where living to 110 is becoming a reality? We often focus on physical health, but what about the health of our minds and our connections with others?

On March 27, 2026, the IWPG Yeonsu Branch hosted a thought-provoking lecture titled “A Growing Brain Does Not Age.” Held at the Namdong Sky Culture Center, this event brought together local residents and peace advocates to explore how personal growth leads to a more harmonious world.

The Secret to a 110-Year Life: Continuous Growth

The guest speaker, Lee Kyung-ja—an esteemed humanities lecturer and head of the Senior Citizens' Association in Incheon—shared a powerful vision for the future. Her message wasn't just about memory exercises or staying sharp; it was about the power of lifelong learning.

She reminded the audience that our brains thrive when we stay curious and open to new perspectives. But more importantly, she linked this personal vitality to the survival of our society:

“When a culture of understanding and respecting each other’s lives spreads, it leads beyond personal growth to the harmonious development of the entire community.”

Peace as a Lifelong Practice

For the members of IWPG, this lecture was a beautiful reminder that peace is not a static goal, but a process of constant learning. By investing in our own mental and emotional growth, we become better equipped to practice empathy and coexist with those around us.

Jeong Yeon-ju, the head of the Yeonsu Branch, emphasized that this is just the beginning. The goal is to create a "positive shift" in the community where dialogue and empathy become the norm.

Why This Matters Today

Whether you are in your 20s or your 80s, the lesson from Incheon remains the same: A mind that seeks to understand the world is a mind that stays young. In a world that often feels divided, choosing to learn, respect, and grow is the most powerful act of peace we can perform.

Are you ready to keep growing? Because a brain that learns is a brain that builds a peaceful world.
