IWPG Ulaanbaatar Branch Holds Women’s Peace Education Graduation Ceremony in Mongolia

The Ulaanbaatar Branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) recently held an online graduation ceremony for participants who completed the Women’s Peace Education program in the second half of 2025.

The event took place on February 27, 2026, and brought together around 350 graduates who completed the educational program organized by IWPG Global Region 9 in Mongolia.

During the ceremony, several participants were recognized for their achievements, with awards presented for perfect attendance, academic excellence, and contributions to the program.

Recognizing Women Leaders for Peace

One of the award recipients, M. Byambasuren, shared reflections on the experience after receiving recognition during the ceremony.

She stated that completing the program felt like the result of sustained effort and learning. She also expressed her intention to share the knowledge and inspiration gained from the course within her community and encourage more women to participate in peace-related activities.

According to organizers, the Women’s Peace Education program aims to strengthen awareness of peace values while encouraging women to become active contributors to peacebuilding within their communities.

Building Peace Awareness Through Education

The head of the IWPG Ulaanbaatar Branch explained that the program was designed to support women’s leadership and expand public awareness of peace in Mongolian society.

The educational course introduced participants to IWPG’s vision, mission, and legal status, while also emphasizing the importance and practical impact of women’s peace education. The curriculum consisted of eight lectures focused on peace values and social engagement.

Organizers noted that education serves as a key foundation for establishing peace not only as an idea but also as a sustainable culture within society.

A Message on Peace and Responsibility

During the ceremony, Lim Mi-sook, Global Director of IWPG, delivered congratulatory remarks to the graduates.

She emphasized that peace begins with the mindset of individuals and reminded participants that graduation marks the beginning of a new responsibility rather than the end of the journey.

She encouraged the graduates to practice the principles and values learned through peace education in their everyday environments—including families, schools, and workplaces—and to continue promoting peace within their communities.

Expanding Global Women-Led Peace Initiatives

IWPG is an international women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC).

The organization operates 115 branches across 123 countries and works with more than 900 partner organizations in 68 countries. Its initiatives include women’s peace education programs, global peace networks, campaigns promoting a culture of peace, and advocacy for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The graduation ceremony in Mongolia reflects IWPG’s broader effort to strengthen women-led peace initiatives and expand peace education programs around the world.
