IWPG Introduces Women-Led “PLACE” Peace Campaign in New York Ahead of International Women’s Day
The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) recently introduced a new initiative designed to highlight women’s everyday role in peacebuilding.
On March 7, 2026, IWPG unveiled the “PLACE” campaign during a peace event held in New York, United States, drawing attention from participants interested in women-led peace initiatives.
The event was organized by members of the IWPG New York branch in connection with International Women’s Day, bringing together participants to share ideas and practical approaches for promoting peace in daily life.
A Campaign Highlighting Everyday Peace Practices
During the event, IWPG introduced the PLACE campaign, a program designed to collect and archive real-life examples of peace practices carried out by women in their daily lives.
The campaign aims to document how individuals contribute to peace within families, workplaces, and communities, highlighting how small actions can influence broader social harmony.
According to the organizers, the initiative encourages women to reflect on how peace can begin in personal environments and gradually expand into wider social relationships.
Message From IWPG Leadership
IWPG Chairwoman Yoon-ah Jeon emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in building peaceful societies.
She noted that peace should not be viewed as something given by others, but rather as something that begins with individuals themselves.
According to her remarks, when women connect and cooperate with one another, peace can grow from personal actions into a broader culture that supports sustainable peace.
Participants Share Personal Reflections
Participants also shared their perspectives during the event.
One attendee, a participant identified as Klosi (28), said the campaign helped her recognize that peace can begin within families and everyday relationships.
She expressed a desire to act as a mediator promoting peaceful dialogue in her workplace, which she described as a male-dominated environment.
Event Held in Connection With the UN CSW
The peace talk event, referred to as “Peace Talk,” was held in connection with the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to discuss ways women can contribute to peace through dialogue, cooperation, and everyday actions.
IWPG stated that it plans to continue promoting peace practices in different countries through similar initiatives.
