IWPG and Nigeria Ambassadors’ Spouses Association Sign MOU to Promote Women’s Peace Education
The agreement was announced during the period of the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) and shortly after International Women’s Day (March 8).
Through the partnership, the two organizations aim to strengthen international cooperation in women’s leadership and peace education.
Cooperation for Women’s Leadership and Peace Education
Under the agreement, IWPG Global Region 1 and ASNA will work together to promote initiatives related to:

women’s leadership development
-
women’s peace education programs
-
international cooperation projects
-
the training of future peace leaders
The collaboration aims to expand opportunities for women to participate in peacebuilding and leadership activities.
MOU Ceremony Held in New York
The signing ceremony took place at the Nigerian Consulate General in New York and was hosted by Abubakar Jidda, Consul General of Nigeria in New York.
Nigerian women leaders and members of the diaspora from countries including Germany and Nigeria attended the event.
Alice Dadu, director of ASNA, emphasized that women play an important role in connecting communities and building peace. She expressed hope that cooperation with IWPG would expand opportunities for Nigerian women in education, leadership, and international collaboration.
Peace Education Experiences Shared
During the event, Margaret Omgubu, an IWPG Peace Committee Chair and a graduate of Nigeria’s first Women’s Peace Leadership Training Education (PLTE) program, shared her experience participating in the training.
She explained that peace education can empower women to lead positive change in their local communities.
IWPG Global Director Kang Yeon-kyung also described the MOU as the beginning of a partnership with Nigerian women and expressed hope that women’s peace education could expand across Africa and global diaspora communities.
IWPG’s Ongoing Global Peace Activities
IWPG Global Region 1 also sent a delegation to participate in the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from March 7 to 14.
Through international cooperation and education programs, IWPG continues to promote women’s participation in peacebuilding around the world.
