Romanian “Masterpeace” Youth Delegation Visits Korea for Peace and Cultural Exchange
In November 2025, a youth delegation from Romania’s global peace network Masterpeace visited South Korea for a five-day cultural and peace exchange program. The visit, held from November 8 to 12, marked an important step in strengthening youth-led international peace cooperation through collaboration with Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) and International Peace Youth Group (IPYG).
The program was designed to deepen mutual understanding between young peace leaders from different regions and to explore sustainable models for long-term youth cooperation in peacebuilding.
From Online Dialogue to In-Person Collaboration
Masterpeace is a Romania-based youth organization known for its culture-centered peace initiatives and youth engagement at the community level. After an initial online exchange with Korean partners in June 2025, both sides agreed to move toward in-person collaboration, leading to this visit.
According to organizers, the exchange was driven by voluntary participation and initiative from the youth themselves. The program aimed not only to introduce Korean culture, but also to create space for open dialogue on peace, civic engagement, and youth leadership across different social and political contexts.
Experiencing Korean Culture and Youth Peace Activities
During their stay, the Romanian delegation visited Seoul and Incheon, where they explored key cultural sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insadong to gain firsthand exposure to Korea’s history and traditions.
The delegation also participated in a Korea–Romania youth cultural exchange session held at Inha University. There, Romanian and Korean students shared perspectives on culture, peace, and the role of youth in society.
In addition, workshops with IPYG provided an opportunity for deeper discussion. Participants analyzed factors affecting peace activities in Romania, including media environments, public opinion, government policy frameworks, and civic awareness. These discussions helped shape practical ideas for future cooperation.
Building a Youth Peace Cooperation Framework
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the agreement to strengthen collaboration through the Youth Engagement for Peacebuilding Working Group (YEPW). IPYG and Masterpeace proposed holding the working group quarterly, four times a year, as a platform for continuous dialogue, joint planning, and shared peace initiatives.
This framework is expected to support not only bilateral cooperation between Korea and Romania, but also broader engagement with youth organizations across different regions.
Youth Voices and Future Outlook
Participants shared positive reflections on the exchange. One Masterpeace youth member noted that the experience in Korea would motivate stronger collaboration upon returning to Romania. Another participant expressed plans to share the experience with peers at home and to further develop cooperation with IPYG.
As the need for peacebuilding and social cohesion continues to grow in Romania and across Eastern Europe, this Korea–Romania youth exchange is being recognized as a practical example of how cultural understanding can support peace efforts.
HWPL and IPYG have indicated that they plan to continue connecting youth organizations from diverse regions, expanding opportunities for youth-led peace initiatives rooted in dialogue, culture, and cooperation.
