Women Lead Change: IWPG Hosts 2025 Global Region 11 Peace Conference in Fiji

On September 6, 2025, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 11 will gather women leaders, educators, and citizens in Suva, Fiji, for the 2025 Global Region 11 Peace Conference in Fiji. The event will be held at the Suva City Council Auditorium and is expected to be a milestone in advancing women-led peacebuilding in the Pacific.


Session 1: Women’s Peace Education Changing Fiji

The first session, themed “Women’s Peace Education, Changing Fiji,” will present how women’s peace education has taken root in the country. It will highlight the journey from the early stages of peace education to the official establishment of the Lautoka Branch, led by Branch Director Nina Naivalu. This segment will show how women’s collective effort has become a driving force for change in Fiji.

Session 2: The Role of Peace Education in Schools

The second session will focus on the theme “The Need for Peace Education in Schools and Higher Education Institutions.” Local educators will join as panelists to discuss the value of integrating peace education into the national education system.

Adding to the celebration, the program will also include a graduation ceremony for women who have completed IWPG’s peace education course, creating a festive atmosphere of achievement and hope.

Jang Sun-hee, IWPG Global Region 11 Director from Korea, emphasized the significance of the event:

“The small beginning of women’s peace education has brought a wind of peace to Fiji. I hope that women’s leadership in peace education will be firmly established at the national level and that diverse peace culture initiatives for sustainable peace will continue to grow.”

Its vision is to realize sustainable world peace through women’s peace education, global solidarity, cultural peace projects, and advocacy for the international legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), first proclaimed in 2016.
