IWPG Nigeria Completes 25-2-2 Women’s Peace Education Session
On August 30, 2025, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 1 held the online graduation ceremony for the 25-2-2 session of the Women’s Peace Education General Course in Nigeria. A total of 30 participants completed the program. This graduation is more than an academic milestone—it marks a lifelong journey to spread peace from individuals to families, communities, and nations.
Eight Sessions of Learning, Two Teams United
The program began with an orientation on June 21 and continued through eight sessions. Participants were divided into two groups: the Kids and Teens Resource Center Team and the Margaret Team.
The course was led by Chikodili Deborah Ekweozoh, the IWPG Washington, D.C. branch director and instructor, who guided students in peace values, practical skills, and dialogue-based approaches to conflict resolution.
Messages of Hope and Commitment
In her congratulatory address, Kang Yeon-gyeong, IWPG Global Region 1 Director, said:
“Through your dedication and effort, you have taken your first steps toward the precious value of peace. I hope the Peace Committee will become a platform where everyone works together for sustainable peace.”
Graduates and representatives shared heartfelt reflections:
-
Bamigboye Folashade, Executive Director, said:
“I realized deeply that peace spreads from the individual to the family and society. I will apply what I learned to ensure the next generation becomes agents of peace.”
-
Omgbu Odiri Obukowho Margaret, representative of the Margaret Team, added:
“Peace is a state where dialogue, respect, and harmony thrive. We are not just graduates of a course but a family building peace together.”
Next Steps: From Learners to Instructors
During the ceremony, IWPG introduced its Peace Instructor Training Course, which equips graduates to lecture internationally, expand networks with global educators, and participate in official IWPG events.
Looking ahead, IWPG Global Region 1 plans to unite the 1st and 2nd Nigerian cohorts for an Instructor Capacity-Building Program, laying the foundation for the upcoming 3rd session of peace education.
IWPG’s Global Role
