Sharing a Table of Peace: IWPG Yeosu Branch Supports Seniors Amid Summer Heat

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Yeosu Branch, led by Branch Director Choi Yoon-gyeom, recently carried out a “Healthy Summer Living” initiative to help local seniors suffering from record-breaking heat. The activity was not only about providing meals but also about practicing the values of peace and solidarity in the community.

Warm Meals, Warm Hearts

IWPG members personally prepared yukgaejang—a traditional Korean nourishing beef soup known for its health benefits in summer—and delivered it to the homes of elderly residents. Along with the meals, members checked on their well-being, offering words of encouragement and companionship.

One senior who received the food expressed gratitude, saying, “In this extreme heat, even preparing meals was difficult. Receiving such a heartfelt dish gives me great strength.”

Peace in Everyday Action

Branch Director Choi Yoon-gyeom reflected, “We organized this activity to provide real support for seniors struggling with the heat. It was a meaningful opportunity to put into practice IWPG’s values of peace within our local community.”

Expanding the Spirit of Peace

Through this effort, the IWPG Yeosu Branch embodied the group’s core belief that “Peace Begins with Me.” By combining practical care with heartfelt connection, the branch aims to continue spreading a culture of peace and community solidarity, ensuring that no neighbor is left behind.
