IWPG Suncheon Branch Holds August Women’s Peace Network Meeting
The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Suncheon Branch hosted its August Women’s Peace Network regular meeting under the theme “My Change, the Beginning of Peace.” The gathering provided members with an opportunity to reflect on the values of peace while learning practical methods of self-care that can be applied in daily life.
A Meeting of Reflection and Growth
The session began with an introduction to IWPG and a video presentation highlighting the Suncheon Branch’s activities during the first half of the year. Branch Director Jung Jin-a then welcomed attendees, setting the tone for a meaningful exchange of ideas and inspiration.
A special lecture followed, featuring Director Kim Mi-seon of Beauty Medical Business, who spoke on “The Connection Between Self-Care and a Peaceful Life.” The lecture explored:
-
The interaction between body and emotions
-
Physical and emotional changes that come with aging
-
Healthy approaches to self-care that enhance confidence and inner stability
Participants resonated with the message that self-care extends beyond outward appearance, playing a vital role in nurturing inner health and leading to a truly peaceful life.
Empowering Women as Peace Educators
The meeting also included a commissioning ceremony for new peace lecturers. Those appointed will lead women’s peace education and local initiatives, empowering more women to take on leadership roles in peacebuilding.
Branch Director Jung emphasized:
“By combining a lecture on peace with self-care education that can be practiced in everyday life, this meeting became a valuable time for members to cultivate both health and peace. Moving forward, we will continue diverse activities so that women may grow as agents of peace and expand this network.”
Looking Ahead: 2025 World Women’s Peace Conference
During the event, members were also encouraged to actively participate in the upcoming 2025 World Women’s Peace Conference, scheduled for September 19.
Hosted annually by IWPG with women leaders worldwide, the conference unites voices across nations to advocate for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), first proclaimed in 2016, and to expand the culture of peace through international cooperation and solidarity.
Building a Culture of Peace, One Step at a Time
The Suncheon Branch’s August meeting reminded participants that peace begins with personal growth and daily practice. By combining reflection, education, and practical care, IWPG continues to strengthen the foundation of women’s peace leadership—locally and globally.
