HWPL’s Global Peace Efforts: A Step Closer to a War-Free World
Why does peace still seem so far away?
Wars, conflicts, and violence continue to bring suffering to people across the world. Yet, there are also those working tirelessly to make peace a reality. Among them is HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), a global NGO dedicated to ending war and building a culture of peace.
HWPL believes that peace isn’t just an idea—it must be something we teach, practice, and protect. That’s why the organization is actively involved in peace education, commemorative monuments, and international advocacy efforts at the UN.
Planting the Seeds of Peace Through Education
One of HWPL’s most impactful projects is its Peace Education Program, designed to teach future generations the values of peace, respect, and coexistence.
In Colombia, a country with a history of internal conflicts, HWPL launched a Peace Educator Training Program in 2023. Teachers from George Williams College participated in special training to learn how to incorporate peace into their teaching.
A Colombian teacher, Paola Andre Bolaños Mero, shared her thoughts:
"This training helped me understand the importance of peace education, not just for my students but for my entire community. True peace begins with mutual respect and kindness."
Another teacher, Luz Enith Prieto de Rodríguez, said:
"Teaching has always been my calling, but this program reminded me why I do what I do. I want to leave a legacy of peace for my students."
After completing the program, all 15 teachers received Peace Educator Certificates from HWPL and have since started peace education initiatives for Colombian youth.
A Monument for Peace in Zambia
While education spreads peace through knowledge, symbols can serve as a lasting reminder of its importance.
In March 2023, HWPL helped establish a Peace Monument at Early Joy School in Lusaka, Zambia. This monument is the first of its kind in the country and stands as a symbol of hope and commitment to peace.
Lenu Saran, the school principal, expressed the importance of this moment:
"We built this peace monument so that our students will always remember peace and actively practice it. Our dream is for peace to spread from our school to the entire nation."
The monument’s unveiling included a special event where students wrote peace letters, urging an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This highlighted how peace education encourages not just learning but also action.
Advocating for Peace on the Global Stage
HWPL doesn’t stop at local efforts—it also works on the international stage to protect human rights and advocate for global peace policies.
In March 2023, HWPL took part in the UN Human Rights Council’s 52nd Session in Geneva, where discussions focused on the right to education for Afghan children, especially girls.
One of the speakers, Mohammed Nadir Azetpana, an Afghan school director, shared how HWPL’s peace curriculum has transformed students’ attitudes and academic performance:
"Through HWPL’s program, students have become more respectful, confident, and disciplined. Their grades have improved, and their outlook on life has changed."
Another speaker, Parasto Hakim, an advocate for Afghan women’s education, called for urgent action:
"Education is not a privilege—it is a basic human right. The UN must help reopen schools for Afghan girls."
HWPL continues to push for policy changes and international support, ensuring that every child, regardless of nationality or background, has the opportunity to learn and grow in a peaceful environment.
How Can We Make Peace a Reality?
HWPL’s efforts show that peace isn’t just an abstract dream—it’s something that can be achieved when individuals and communities work together.
Whether through education, monuments, or international advocacy, HWPL is taking real steps toward a war-free world. But peace isn’t just the responsibility of organizations—it’s up to all of us.
So, how can we contribute?
- Support peace education in your community
- Advocate for policies that promote peace
- Spread awareness by sharing HWPL’s work
Every small action matters. Peace starts with us. Let’s build a world where war is a thing of the past.
I am so impressed by HWPL's activities. I truly hope that peace will be achieved in this land.
