HWPL Peace Education – Transforming Lives in Thailand
In Thailand, HWPL’s Peace Education is creating ripples of change in schools, communities, and the nation as a whole. At the forefront of this transformation is Chulada Suiwang, a dedicated teacher at an Islamic Comprehensive School, who is integrating peace values into her curriculum to shape students into compassionate, respectful individuals.
Introducing HWPL Peace Education
Chulada first encountered HWPL’s Peace
Education curriculum in 2018 through collaborative activities with the
organization. Motivated by its vision, she completed teacher training in 2022
and officially began peace education after signing an MOU with HWPL in
September of the same year.
Currently, Chulada conducts peace education
with select groups of students, with plans to expand it school-wide. “Through
HWPL’s peace curriculum, I aim to instill values of gratitude and consideration
in my students, helping them respect their parents, teachers, and peers,” she
shared.
Teaching Peace with Creativity
Chulada emphasizes the importance of engaging
students through diverse activities. Alongside lessons, she incorporates games,
storytelling, and hands-on experiences to make peace education more relatable
and actionable.
“Seeing students change their behavior and
adopt a mindset that prioritizes peace has been incredibly rewarding,” she
noted. “It gives me hope that we can build a better society through education.”
Chulada also strives to lead by example.
Reflecting on her own actions daily, she aims to be a positive role model for
her students, embodying the peace values she teaches.
A Vision for the Future
Chulada envisions integrating peace education
into English classes to make learning both fun and impactful. “This approach
will allow students to develop language skills while understanding the value of
peace,” she explained.
She is also collaborating with HWPL to
organize events like peace walks and workshops, providing students with
opportunities to apply what they learn in real-world settings.
The Broader Impact of Peace Education
Since its introduction in Thailand in 2022,
HWPL’s Peace Education has expanded to five schools, including Islamic
Comprehensive School, Paradanusorn School, and Songkhla University. Teachers
trained in HWPL’s curriculum report a noticeable shift in their students’
attitudes, emphasizing the program’s role in fostering harmony and mutual
respect.
By focusing on gratitude, respect, and
cooperation, HWPL’s Peace Education is helping to create a more harmonious
society, one classroom at a time.
Join the Movement
Chulada’s work with HWPL highlights the
transformative power of peace education in shaping not only students but also
communities. Through her efforts and those of many other dedicated educators,
Thailand is building a culture of peace that will benefit generations to come.
Let’s support HWPL’s Peace Education and work
together to create a brighter, more harmonious future.
