In Memory of the Korean War
25 June is the day of the Korean War.
The Korean War (25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) was a war between North Korea and South Korea and began on 25 June 1950. In South Korea, the war is usually referred to as "625" (yook-i-o), reflecting the date of its commencement on 25 June. In North Korea, the war is officially referred to as the "Fatherland Liberation War" (Choguk haebang chǒnjaeng) or alternatively the "Chosǒn [Korean] War".
The participation of the United Nations and the Chinese People's Support Forces almost seemed to escalate into World War III, but it was terminated under the Korean Armistice Agreement signed on July 27, 1953. The agreement created the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to separate North and South Korea. It is the largest international war since World War II involving the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union, as well as the United Nations forces and medical staff.
In the aftermath of the war, according to U.S. statistics, 600,000 people died during the war, and the total number of deaths in all the war-torn country amounts to 2 million. More than 1 million people had died in South Korea, 85 percent of whom were civilians.
The Korean War devastated the entire Korean Peninsula, and in particular, large industrial areas in the Japanese-built North Korean region were completely destroyed by carpet bombing. All the bridges along the Han River were severed and countless war orphans were born.
More than 10 million separated family members occurred due to the Korean War.
The war always like this, has a devastating effect. It is the war that so many lives die, so much property is damaged, and that leaves a great scar. We must remember the war. We have to remember how it was like a nightmare. We must remember that it was misery. And we must try not to see war again. That heart and effort will be the strength of the peace world.
The wind of peace is blowing all around the world. Peace is also being achieved on the Korean Peninsula along with the wind. During the peace process, the Panmunjom Declaration was announced.
The Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula was adopted between Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, and President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, on April 27, 2018, during the 2018 inter-Korean Summit on the South Korean side of the Peace House in the Joint Security Area.
According to the declaration, the governments of North Korea and South Korea agreed to cooperate on officially ending the Korean War and the Korean conflict, beginning a new era of peace and sharing commitments in ending divisions and confrontation by approaching a new era of national reconciliation, peace and prosperity and improvements to inter-Korean communication and relations.
In order to keep the beautiful peace world from collapsing, we need a binding law which to prevent war in order to protect it. The law should contain a revolutionary way to end the war and everything to be fulfilled in the world of peace.
The DECLARATION OF PEACE AND CESSATION OF WAR (DPCW) can be such a law. On the 14th of March 2016, the DPCW was proclaimed. he Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) is an international document written in the format of a declaration. HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee stated “the current international law needs to be amended so it prevents all wars and conflicts”, and has expressed the need for a new legally binding instrument that will completely cease all wars since the current international law fails to prevent wars and conflicts from occurring. For this, the DPCW, consisting of 10 articles. and 38 clauses, was drafted by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, which is comprised of renowned legal experts from around the globe. Overall, the Declaration touches topics that are collectively paramount in consolidating and sustaining international peace and security.
For this, the DPCW mentions that all states should be mindful of equal authority, and the power of law can replace war as a means to solve judicial problems and other conflicts. The DPCW aims to not only become a legally binding instrument through the adoption of the UN but it wishes to transform and expand the paradigm into a "fair rule of law" amidst the current order where rule of power triumphs and wars and conflicts are never ceasing.
The law of making peace should be a law to maintain and protect peace beyond making a peaceful world like the DPCW.
This is a moving article which really emphasises the need for the DPCW. We must ensure it is enacted at the United Nations this year. Thank you for all your good work.
