Global Peace Walks of HWPL Call World Leaders to Reply to Peace Letters

On May 25th, “6th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace and the Peace Walk” was held at about 126 places in 77 countries around the world. The event was hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace NGO affiliated with the UN ECOSOC and the UN DGC.


In South Korea, where the declaration was proclaimed 6 years ago, upwards of 150,000 citizens gathered and took part in the “Peace Letter Campaign.” Under the theme of "The World’s Call for Peace, Urging Support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)”, this peace walk has been carried out simultaneously in various places all over the world in May every year with the aim of promoting the role and participation of individuals in the international community to achieve peace and spreading a culture of peace.


Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL announced the significance of the DPCW and stated, “Why do you have a religion? Why do you teach and learn at school? What's the purpose of those things? We should stop killing people. We should do people alive. It is the end of wars and to achieve peace. Those are what the DPCW is saying. Let's achieve the same world, the peace world with the same mind.”


The DPCW consisting of 10 articles and 38 clauses addresses principles of conflict resolution and international cooperation for peacebuilding such as respect on the international law, peaceful dispute settlement, and spreading a culture of peace. Civil society throughout the world is carrying out peace education, peace culture projects, and ‘Legislate Peace Campaign’ to establish a legally binding international law for peace and to create a peaceful environment in the society in cooperation with HWPL.

5,000 Los Angeles Residents Join World Wide Peace Walk.

5,000 leaders and youth are gathered at the docks of Santa Monica Pier to make a demand for peace legislation for the community and the world. This peace walk has been carried out simultaneously in various places all over the world in May every year with the aim of promoting the role and participation of individuals in the international community to achieve peace and spreading a culture of peace.

Nearly 500 citizens from Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas led a peace walk 

Hundreds of citizens from Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas led a peace walk on Saturday, starting from the United States Capitol building to the U.S. Supreme Court building. Participants urged heads of state from 193 countries, and political and community leaders to support the DPCW.

The event was held at San Francisco as well and took part in the "Peace Letter Campaign" to call for the support in order to develop the DPCW into a legally binding document. The DPCW, the crystallized form of the Declaration of World Peace, addresses principles of conflict resolution and international cooperation for peacebuilding such as respect on international law, peaceful dispute the settlement, and spreading a culture of peace.

Peace Walk  in London, United Kingdom

The event, which took place in London, United Kingdom focused a Peace Letter Campaign led by the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), an affiliated youth organization of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL). The campaign urges heads of state to support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as a legally binding document by submitting it as a resolution to the United Nations. It also works to practically establish an international framework for peace and instil a sense of responsibility within students and youth as they play an important role in the work of peace that goes beyond their own country, ethnicity, culture or religion.

According to the official of HWPL, the DPCW stresses on the role of citizens as the most important peace-making nucleus, and it is the meaning of the peace walk to show the collective voice of the global the citizens that voluntarily conveys the message of peace.
