Speech from a Korean War veteran... This really touched me.
Next speech was from Mr. Oh Hee Ryoo, representative of Yong-In branch Korean war veteran.
He was 18 years old when he was dragged into Korean War in the 1950s.
He was allocated in the 7th division of army, Seven Star Division.
He was surprised to learn that Chairman Lee was also in the same division as he was.
He thanked the chairman for fighting alongside with him and the other veterans of that time.
'During the war, their army entered Pyeongyang and it seemes like they are going to win at that time.
Although they covered almost all of North Korean terriotry,
so many lives were lost...
war left scars to the survivors and myself.
I remember the youth that fell, even before they saw the prime of life
and lives lost at such a young age.
I can't help tearing up for them up to now.
despite the sacrifices, we were left with two divided nations.
I sometimes go to elementary schools, for national education center.
It was only recent that I learned about Chairman Lee's peace work.
His work for peace is not done in vain but it is bringing real progress and real hope.
With the peace declaration, he started his peace work.,
It is the international societies responsibility to bring lives and save lives and leave a lasting peace legacy for the youth standing right here.
we miss the Korea united as it was before and I miss the fellow soldiers that fought with me during the time of crisis.
on behalf of fellow soldiers and myself, I tell the international communities that we have no time to draw lines and we must join together to work for peace.
let's protect the youth from ravages of war and for better future!'
"Chung-Seong!"
