IWPG Global 9 Strengthens Ties with Mongolian Peace Leaders in Korea

Building Bridges for Lasting Peace

On September 18, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global 9 hosted a peace dialogue with 26 Mongolian Peace Chairpersons in Cheongju, South Korea. Including interpreters and staff, about 50 participants joined the gathering, which focused on expanding peace culture and strengthening solidarity between Korea and Mongolia.

IWPG Global Director Im Mi-sook opened the meeting with heartfelt remarks:

“I hope this will be a time for us to share stories and hearts for peace. May each of you become seeds of peace that will fill all of Mongolia with harmony.”

Mongolian Peace Chairperson Battar Punsaldulam expressed gratitude for the inspiration gained during the visit:

“Here, I felt peace overflowing along with love, harmony, and resilience. Thank you for giving us the courage to work for peace not only in our communities but also for the world.”

Participants engaged in reflection under the theme “Peace Begins with Me.” Through guided questions, they shared their motivations for visiting Korea, their pride in carrying out peace activities in Mongolia, and their plans for future initiatives in their regions.

Cultural Exchange for Deeper Understanding

The dialogue also included a traditional Korean cultural program. The delegates experienced dancheong, the colorful decorative painting used in Korean wooden architecture. By creating their own small dancheong pieces, they deepened cultural understanding and celebrated diversity through art.

Expanding IWPG’s Global Network

IWPG is a UN ECOSOC and UN DGC–registered women’s NGO headquartered in Korea. It operates in 122 countries with 115 branches and over 800 partner organizations across 68 nations. With the vision of “achieving sustainable world peace,” IWPG continues to expand solidarity, spread a culture of peace, deliver women’s peace education, and advocate for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) to be established as international law.
